Graebner, Fritz (1877–1934) |
German diffusionist anthropologist; his Methode der Ethnologie (1911), though it was given a devastating review by Franz Boas, makes one of the most cogent and scientifically sound statements of the methodological basis of the Kulturkreis theory, in which the historical movement of cultural traits is traced back to ancient "culture areas", many of which could impinge on a given modern culture.
