Austrian-American sociologist of knowledge and Lutheran theologian. Ph.D. from New School for Social Research, 1954. Berger has, alone and with various collaborators (inclucing Thomas Luckmann and Hansfried Kellner), authored several widely-read books on knowledge, religion, modernity and social ethics. His most famous works include The Social Construction of Reality (with Luckmann, 1966) and The Sacred Canopy (1967).
