This concept, which is often associated with postmodernism, denotes the constant mutuality that is maintained in all social interaction, and particularly in the relationship between fieldworker and informant. In the methods debate, reflexivity is important because it underscores that the fieldworker's positioning in the field influences the data that he/she acquires. (See also information.)
